e-ryt 500 yoga teacher and teacher trainer based in brooklyn, ny.  i started practicing yoga up in boston in my late teens, immediately after a period of massive (less than healthy) weight loss, and just before...
(suggested props: two blocks, two blankets, and a strap)

This class starts slow - close to the ground, with lots of hips openers and side body poses. After we roll around on the floor for a while, the pace picks up and things get a little more athletic as we move through standing poses and balances that will prep us for lotus things, side plank things, and even kasyapasana (half lotus in side plank).

(Int/Adv) Kula Flow is vinyasa (or flow) style yoga with an emphasis on creativity and alignment. Classes are inventive and thoughtful sequences of sun salutations, standing & seated postures, back bending, and inversions —guided by a steady breath to tone and calm the mind. Most teachers also use bandha work to open and strengthen the inner body. (Classes differ in tone and vigor depending on the teacher, so if you have special needs/interests please contact [email protected]) For students with a regular yoga practice.
