Augustine Kim

Augustine has been a dedicated Ashtanga Yoga instructor in Williamsburg for over a decade. His yoga journey spans more than two decades, initially studying under esteemed senior teachers Rolf Naujokat and John Campbell, the latter of whom guided him into teaching. Augustine's path led him to collaborate with educators in both Indonesia and Sri Lanka, sharing the practice across diverse communities.

In addition to his yoga proficiency, Augustine is deeply drawn to spiritual exploration. He delved into Tibetan Buddhism and meditation, with a significant chapter spent in Dharamshala, where he resided in a monastery and had the privilege of attending teachings by His Holiness Dalai Lama.

While in Dharamshala, Augustine also pursued the art of Tibetan calligraphy with late Punntsok Namgyal Dhumkhang and immersed himself in the region's culture, eventually studying traditional Tibetan painting under Pema Rinzin, the former resident artist at the Rubin Museum.

With a foundational education in engineering from MIT, Augustine brings a distinctive perspective to his holistic philosophy. His mission remains rooted in making the benefits of Ashtanga Yoga accessible to all, adapting his teachings to suit individual needs. Within his classes, Augustine fosters a nurturing and trustworthy environment, providing students the space to nurture physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
