(Suggested props: 1 blanket, a bolster if you have it/can be on the floor if you don't, and if you have a chair grab it but if you don't you can work the same shapes without chair support).

This class starts with just a blanket or a towel and reclining pranayama to enliven the backbody. You will then elevate the hips and throw in some inner thigh/groin and hip opening. Surya As come fairly early in this class followed by a sequence that expands on the opening of the inner thighs and integrates up regulating breath practices in a squat (Kapallabhati and Bhastrika or Breath of Fire). Standing poses are done elevated on blocks to challenge your balance and relationship to gravity. A handstand appears! And seated straddles that revisits awareness to the dorsal spine. We close with a forward fold.

(Int/Adv) Kula Flow is vinyasa (or flow) style yoga with an emphasis on creativity and alignment. Classes are inventive and thoughtful sequences of sun salutations, standing & seated postures, back bending, and inversions—guided by a steady breath to tone and calm the mind. Most teachers also use bandha work to open and strengthen the inner body. (Classes differ in tone and vigor depending on the teacher, so if you have special needs/interests please contact [email protected].) For students with a regular yoga practice.
